Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Camino Dubrovnik processes the personal data of users of the Camino Dubrovnik mobile application (“App”). The App is intended for pilgrims on the Dubrovnik–Međugorje route and provides information about landmarks and useful points (shops, accommodation, water, etc.), enables receiving notifications when you are near landmarks or useful points, and allows you to report issues on the route or submit a review.

This Policy has been prepared in accordance with the principle of transparency and the information that must be provided to users when collecting data.

What data we process and why

• Location (GPS) — in the app and in the background (if you allow it)

  • used to show your position on the map and nearby content

  • used to send notifications when you approach a landmark/point of interest (background location)

Location is not shared with other users. We do not permanently store your movement history, except if you send your location together with an issue report.

• Issue reporting / reviews (voluntary)

  • text and the photo you upload

  • optionally, the report location (if you allow it)
    Please do not upload unnecessary content (e.g., faces, license plates) unless relevant.

• Push notifications

  • we use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications to your device (FCM token/installation identifier)

• Basic technical data

  • minimal technical data required for system operation and security (e.g., IP address at the time of communication, app version)

Who we share data with

• Our server: issue reports/reviews and photos (stored on our server)

• Firebase (Google): delivery of push notifications (FCM)
  We do not sell personal data.

How long we keep data

• Location: used for App features; we do not keep a permanent movement history (except the report location, if you send it)

• Route issue reports: up to 24 months, or less if needed for processing and improvements

• Reviews and photos: for the lifetime of the app; they can be removed upon request

• Push tokens: as long as needed to deliver notifications or until changed/deleted on the device

Your controls and rights

• You can disable location and notifications in your device settings (then “nearby” notifications will not work).

• You can request access to/deletion of data related to reports (e.g., photos) via: caminotzdubrovnik@gmail.com.
